Timber Children’s Centre Completed in Keith
Furness Partnership worked with G-Frame on the design of the timber structure for a new, 60 place nursery in Keith, Scotland. The work was completed and the centre ready to open in August this year.
Furness Partnership were chosen for this job as experts in glulam structural solutions and long term partners with G-Frame. The single story building meant timber was a feasible, low carbon choice of construction material with a carbon saving of at least 50 tonnes over a steel equivalent structural frame. The total structure is estimated to have performed better than current targets for embodied carbon with less than 200kg co2 equivalents per square meter.
The nursery is run by Flexible Childcare Services, a charity aimed at supporting children and families in the surrounding area.
