The £9m new build crematoria at Heaton in Bradford is part of Bradford MDC £24m Bereavement strategy which aims to upgrade and enhance their ageing facilities. This new build crematorium will operate to and above national standards of emissions including the removal of mercury and nitrogen oxide pollutants to make it as environmentally friendly as possible as well as future proofing the crematoria against upcoming regulation changes.
Heaton Crematoria includes modern public and private waiting areas, a large service hall with a capacity for 150 seated plus a 150 standing mourners which can be subdivided to cater for large or more intimate smaller services. The crematoria has a unique private side room which allows families should they wish, to initiate and view the coffin entering the cremation oven. Administrative space was also created to accommodate the councils Bereavement Services and for the first time house the districts burial records dating which date back to 1857 in one place.
Extensive external landscaping and drainage works were undertaken to create a beautiful garden of remembrance and a l23 space car park which includes spaces for coaches and EV charging stations.
