Furness Partnership provided structural design services for the complete remodelling and refurbishment of the building 383 at the MRC’s Harwell site.
The work was carried out over 4 phases, and in addition to new research laboratory facilities also provided a new library, lecture hall, canteen, reception and refurbished circulations areas.
The particular structural challenge of the project was in providing new highly serviced laboratory facilities within an existing building shell, with limiting floor to floor heights and column arrangements.
