Archlight Cinema wins Wandsworth Design Award
The Archlight Cinema has won the Restoration/Conversation category of the Wandsworth Design Awards 2019.
This challenging project involved the construction of 3 acoustically isolated cinemas beneath one of the busiest train lines in the UK. Throughout the whole project close liaison was required with a number of stakeholders, including Network Rail and Battersea Power Station. Efficient planning ensured swift on site project delivery within the confines of the largest construction site development in Europe at Battersea Power Station.
The project was heralded as “An imaginative and well-executed design to convert railway arches to provide a cinema and animate the public realm.”
Furness Partnership, along with McFralane Latter Architects, are thrilled that this project has been recognised for its contribution to the area.
